How to install and configure MTS MBLAZE Mobile broadband USB modem on Ubuntu Linux 11.10

If you are using Linux 11.10 distribution and want to install MTS MBLAZE mobile broadband USB modem on your linux distribution, here is the process to do it. it is even simpler than doing it on windows. One of the reasons I love linux is the ability of linux to run any program that is meant to run on windows only.

First of all you will have to set up a mobile broadband connection in your linux distribution. I have linux 11.10 and I have Huawei MTS MBLAZE Mobile broadband USB modem.
Go to Network connections and click on ADD under Mobile Broadband.

Since I have already added the connection, I can see it under the list of Mobile broadband connections.
After you click on add, Linux would automatically detect your device and you will be prompted to a screen like this where you will be asked to choose the mobile broadband device. If you have another mobile Broadband device also installed, choose Huawei and then proceed. If you don't have any other mobile broadband connection installed on your Linux distribution, you can continue with the default setting that is presented to you.

You have now set up your your MTS MBLAZE mobile broadband USB modem in Linux 11.10 distribution. Well. the procedure is same for any linux distribution.

The last step involves setting up your username and password for this connection. You can do this easily by going to the list of connections that you have (in network connections) and choosing to edit your connection (Mobile Broadband Connection).

Do not change anything else.
Just type in the username as internet@internet.mtsindia.in
and password as MTS and check available to all users( if you want all your users on your computer to access this mobile broadband connection.)

That is it. You can now connect your mobile broadband connection easily by choosing it from the list of connections you have.
If you have any problems in installing and configuring it, feel free to ask it.
